Meet

Dr Stephen Wilson

With a passion for artistry and a commitment to excellence, Dr Wilson is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon with further fellowship training in facial plastic surgery.

Dr Wilson first knew that he wanted to become a Plastic surgeon as a medical student at the University of Cape Town and in particular, the world renowned Red Cross Children’s Hospital. The idea that creativity, artistry and science could all be combined to transform and restore the human body sparked a passion for this speciality. This was nurtured during many years of hard training as well as by many amazing local and international teachers and mentors. Dr Wilson completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Pretoria while completing a master’s degree and board certification to become a fellow of the College of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa. He then decided to embark on a further one-year fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the auspices of the International Board for the Certification of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (IBCFPRS).

The result of all this is an energetic plastic surgeon with a firm grasp on the most up to date, international surgical practices and a passion for patient care.

Dr Wilson prides himself on providing natural-looking results and is dedicated to helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals with precision and care.

He handled immediate checks quickly and professionally, alleviated the concerns of an 12 year old girl that she would not be able to play in the hockey nationals and personally dug through backup medical supply cabinets to find suitable medication as the Alberlito hospital pharmacy was closed.

The following day during surgery Dr. Stephen Wilson managed to remarkably rebuild my daughter’s nose from bone fragments. It is now impossible to tell that her nose had been broken at all. He was also incredibly responsive in providing the necessary documentation for school, insurance and for motivating SA Schools Hockey to accept my daughter taking part in the hockey nationals with a protective mask.

“During the past 5 years my eyes have been deteriorating badly. The eyelids were dropping over my eyes and the lower areas of the eyes were red and droopy.
